The purpose of this monograph is to further orient us regarding the unique mission of the Salvation Army. It is an attempt to summarize the development of Booth's social concern, which came about to complement his zeal for lasting answers to the human plight of sin, ignorance, addictions, diffidence, and ineffectual public policy.
